5 Make-up trends for Summer 2013 Posted by Penelope P on June 13, 2013

Posted by Penelope P on June 13, 2013

Summer is practically here and whether you are about to go on a well-deserved vacation or will be working, you want to look your best during those long, hot days (and nights). Here are 5 cool make-up trends for Summer 2013.

1. Brown and bronze in all shades (and all over) – even though pretty, light and pastel colors are what we normally associate with summertime, this time it is all about heavy smokey eyes with shades of coffee and gold, as well as bronzed skin.
2. Time for bright and bold lips – summer is the time to make a statement with the perfect shade of lipstick. You can experiment with so many different colors, from orange to pink and red, just make sure to keep other areas of your face clean and simple. Lips should be the main focus!
3. Pop of color for the eyes – make your eyes stand out with a colored eyeliner, as this is a huge make-up trend on catwalks and in fashion editorials. You can play with it and achieve different looks, by either smudging it on top and bottom eyelids for edgier look, or drawing a sleek line to achieve sexy and always on-trend cat eye look.
4. Over-the-top long lashes – when it comes to lashes, the longer the better! You can achieve long, voluminous look by investing in a great mascara, or using fake lashes for a dramatic look for a night out.
5. Beautifully bronzed skin is in – achieve that bronzed, healthy summer glow we are all longing for with a great bronzing powder that will make you look beach babe gorgeous, rather than oompa loompa orange.

New Makeup Trends For 2013

Blush: This year big things are happening in blush, or “rouge,” as it is known amongst French people and grandmas everywhere. 2013 marks the long-awaited debut of “Blush: II” by FancyFace. When it comes to temporarily enhancing your looks, one can’t be too careful, and FancyFace is a company you can trust to surprise, delight, and potentially awaken something dark inside of you. There have been industry whispers that Blush: II is made from a limited stock of antique talcum powder from the private stash of a very famous 1920’s screen starlet. We wish! However, the truth of course is much more banal, it’s actually just laced with run-of-the-mill angel dust. The real secret behind Blush II is probably that Blush I never even existed. They started the line with Blush II. This is the kind of innovative thinking that helps FancyFace to make amazing products, like a powder that turns the skin over your cheekbone slightly pinker and/or causes dangerous long-term hallucinations.
Lipstick: Every once in a while a product comes along that truly makes an impact on the cosmetics community. This year it is not lipstick. Sorry to say, the newly released 2013 lip color shades are all total duds. However, if necessity is the mother of invention and Madonna is the mother of reinvention, then bad makeup lines are the grandma of hotness in unexpected places. In an attempt to survive the drab lipstick offerings, trendsetters have begun just smearing whatever they want on their lips. For a darker, sultry look, try cooked taco meat, chocolate, tar, peat, soot, or diatomaceous earth. For a brighter, sunny look go with something fun like strawberry yogurt, Pepto Bismol, the guts of just about any fish, or beets. For an upsetting and deranged look, blood is always the best option. Just be careful, fake blood is called “f— for a reason — it looks totally inauthentic. This season, don’t trust your lip appeal to knock-off blood.
Glitter: It’s going to be everywhere. That is mostly due to the fact that it exists and it is impossible to remove from any surface. Most likely, you still have residual glitter all over your body from a terrible party in 2003, so no need to buy anymore. However, you may need to reinforce your pre-existing glitter. If so, just bump into a person that looks like they could have gone to a rave in the late ‘90s or any Middle School teacher.
Eye Shadow: The “Smokey Eye” is officially over. There is a new eye in town and, like post-Bloomberg New York, it is entirely smoke-free. The trend in eye shadow is to use gray or dark gray tones, but more specifically, gray tones etched into the silhouettes of famous figures. Several make-up artists have hit the ground running with this look and now clients across the country are demanding these new shadows-shapes for their eyelids — especially the following crowd-pleasers: The Lincoln, The Michael Jordan dunking a basketball, The Mickey Mouse, The Evolution of Man, and, strangely the most popular, The Alfred Hitchcock. Don’t be the last kid on the block to have Don Draper on couch with cigarette artfully brushed in gray shadow onto your eyelid skin. Sayonara “Smokey Eye” and hello Silhou-eye-ttes!

5 Skin Care Tips For Glowing Skin In The Summer

Nothing looks quite as good as sun-kissed skin in the summer, but how do you obtain that look? Achieving the appearance of glowing skin is going to take some work, but it is completely possible. With some time and care you can transform your skin from the dull winter white it is now to glowing and bronze for the summer! There’s no reason to hide your skin when you can make it look amazing.

Wax or Shave

Shaving and waxing are absolutely essential during the summer, especially if you want to have great looking skin. Waxing is more painful and costly, but it does last longer and will reduce chances of irritation and ingrown hairs. If you choose to wax you will find that you won’t have to have it done for around 8 weeks, and sometimes even longer than this.

If you shave you have to make sure to use a good moisturizer and exfoliating cream so you don’t end up with ingrown hairs. Most people also find that shaving only lasts for a day or maybe sometimes two, which isn’t very long. Either way, less hair means being able to show off your skin without having to worry about it! The way you remove your hair is up to you.

Exfoliate your Skin

Exfoliating your skin is extremely important because it gets rid of the top layer of dead skin that everyone has. You only need to do this a few times per week in order for it to be effective. There are a lot of different exfoliating creams and using a loofah will boost your results. In addition to getting rid of dead skin, this will also help reduce bacteria and oils in your skin. This is one of the most important steps to get glowing skin that you’re proud to show off.

Tan Yourself

Tanning can give you a healthy appearance and can even make you look thinner. If you’re going for a bronzed glow, then there are a lot of tanning options you have available. The most common method that people choose is to go tanning at a tanning booth. There are now booths that are UV free, which are great if you want to have a safe tanning experience. You can also spray tan or purchase tanning lotions, which can both result in having sun-kissed skin without the UV damage from the sun.

Moisturize

Even if you live in a humid area you need to moisturize your skin throughout the summer months. This will keep it hydrated and will ensure that your skin is soft. If you do live in a humid area, then a thin moisturizer that dries quickly will be best. If you live in a dry climate, then a thicker lotion will make a big difference with the way your skin looks. Don’t be afraid to get a lotion that is scented, as these can give you an extra scent boost when it’s hot and you’re sweaty.

By following these tips you can have glowing skin from your head to your toes! Not only will this give you more confidence, it will make you look great no matter what you are wearing. Try these tips out to see how much of a difference they make with your skin.

Applying Eyeshadow

While there are rigid rules when it comes to foundations, it is with your eye color that you can allow your creative side to take flight.

Your eyes are the focal point of your face. Be sure that your eye makeup techniques and choice of colors are most flattering to your eye shape and color.
With eye color you can create the illusion of new shapes and sizes. Always keep in mind that light colors highlight and dark colors shrink or recede.

Powder eyeshadows come in singles or color coordinated duos, trios or quads. Try to find eye shadows that are highly pigmented. Simply put, you want the shade you see in the container to be the color you see on your eyes.

When applying eyeshadow sweep the lightest shade over the entire area from lash line to brow. This shade will be your base color and is to your eye, what your foundation is to your face. It will hold your color and prevent creasing.

After applying your base color, apply a medium shade on the lower lid. This is the part of the eye that most women apply eyeshadow. Blend into your base shade.
A third color can then be added. Use a deep, dark shade to create depth. Apply this shade along the lash line, and at the outer corner of the eye, emphasizing the crease of the eye and brow bone. Blend well. This is your accent shade and when used can create a more defined eye.

How you apply this contour shade can help eyes look bigger, smaller, wider set or closer together. The key is to blend so well that attention is still drawn to your eye, not your eye makeup.

For eye shadow that looks “just applied” for hours, first, base your eyelid with a neutral concealer which closely matches your natural skin tone. Next, apply a neutral shade of eye shadow or a color nearest your skin color over the concealer. The process of the powder adhering to the cream will create a smudge resistant base for your eye shadow. It will last forever.

Really high quality powder eyeshadows such as Sacha's color-rich eye shadows can be used wet or dry. Dampen your brush or applicator and create your own liquid eyeliner in any of Sacha’s vibrant colors. Wet application of these eyeshadows serves to intensify the color.

Cream eyeshadows are the newest kids on the block. Avoid formulations that crease upon application. These cream eyeshadows can be coordinated with your powder shadows. A cream eyeshadow can be used as an under base with a matching powder shadow as a sealant. The best applicators for any cream eye shadow are your fingertips.

For extra glamour, use an iridescent powder to highlight your eyes. This makes it possible to transform your day makeup into a glamorous night look.

TIPS TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT LIP COLOR

When it comes to your lips make-up, you need to choose the right lip color. All your efforts of applying lipstick perfectly are of no use if the shade of your lipstick is mistaken. The right shade makes a lot of difference in the appearance and overall personality you want to present.

Often women find it really difficult to choose the right lipstick color that suits them. The right lip color will complement your looks, while a wrong shade can make you feel like a clown.

HERE ARE SOME USEFUL TIPS THAT CAN HELP YOU TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT LIP COLOR:

Always choose a lip color that gets well with the natural shade of your lips and skin. For instance those having dark skin tone must choose a lip color in shades like plums, wines and deep reds. For those having light brown skin tone must opt for a lip color in pink or orange shades. For those having olive skin tone must go for a lip color in the brownish red, light brown and raisin colors shades.
Try to get two different shades of lip color – one dark and one light. Use the light lip color for day use and the darker one for evening and night.
For subtle look, choose matte and cream finished lip colors, while for a glamorous look you must use a lip color in high-gloss. For daily use a natural-looking lip color with a little shine is always the best option.
When buying a new lip color also check the shade in natural light to see how the color really looks with your skin tone.

When choosing a lip color bear in mind that the color of your hair and color of your eyes also matters a lot. For lighter hair shades the lip color should be brighter and vice versa.
The most flattering lip colors will be one or two shades darker than your natural lip color. To test different shades of lip color, keep one lip bare and apply lip color on one lip. If the color is one or two shade deeper than your natural lip color, it means you have chosen the right shade.
In case you do not get the lip color shade of your satisfaction, you can also create your own shade by combining colors. Just apply each lip color to your lips and then with the help of a lip brush blend it properly. This way you can come with a unique shade that will complement your appearance.
To highlight your lip color, always opt for a lip liner that is a shade darker than your lipstick and in the same color family. Also always use a lip liner after applying the lip color.
So next time when your shopping for the right lip color, keep these above mentioned tips in mind and soon you find the right shade of lip color that can make your lips extra beautiful.

7 Beauty And Makeup Tips For Your Skin

Your face is something you see every morning and evening but do you ever ask yourself how it looks??? if not then try asking yourself: does it look oily, dry, radiant, listless or glowing??? Your overall beauty depends on you asking these questions on a daily basis!!!

Achieving and maintaining the beauty of your face and cleansing it in this and age can be a nightmare, so lets get started with some quick tips to help fix those flaws, maintain your beauty with minimal effort and finally save on makeup.

Beauty And Makeup Tips For Your Skin

Concealer only gets half of the job done fixing those facial flaws. A handy trick to have is to try lipstick in a warmish pink color, no matter what your skin tone, it distracts people's eyes from blemishes and any other imperfections; which is the shared opinion of many makeup artists.

For flawless skin, select a cleanser and moisturizer that is suitable for your skin type, especially one that you can use in the mornings as well as the evenings; then add it on a weekly basis with a purifying face mask. Adding  skin treatments during the night can also enhance skin beauty, for this try nightly skin treatments that exfoliates dead skin cells.

Here is a great tip for those of you who are naturally pale. If you want a glow that looks healthy, simply apply cosmetic glow products to the bridge of your nose, chin and finally your cheeks; and remember you don't need a lot of makeup to succeed in having good looking skin.

If you have a lack of sleep once in a while, your skin doesn't have to show it. Depending on which cosmetic product you choose it doesn't have to, i suggest a cream blush with pink or red overtones. Simply blend into your cheeks, set with a loose power and watch your beauty flourish.

Regenerate your makeup once in a while by spraying your face with water, you can re blend makeup you already have on rather than wasting more. (I would advise that you do this with powder, concealer and foundation)

Go easy on the makeup when you cover pimples/spots  it known that doing this clogs your pores and also causes more blemishes. How can you tackle this problem? what is the best cosmetic solution? i suggest you use a concealer that contains salicylic acid to ward off those pimples/spots and bring back that beauty.

When you make a makeup change choose the feature that compliments you the most and follow it up with a color that is different to what you would normally wear.
